Overview

The Microbiology Department in SRI GOVINDARAJA SWAMI ARTS COLLEGE, TIRUPATHI  was established with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara in the year2001 as a self financial course with the effort of Dr k . SREE RAM RAO Head of the Department of Botany . The course offered as B.Sc MZC with 30 seats ( Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry) . Later the seats were increased to 50 .

Sri S. Nadamuni Pillai from the Department of Botany was the first incharge Head of  the Department of  Microbiology Course , followed by Dr . N. NAGARAJU then SMT . BHARATHI . DR.K . VENKATA LAKSMI from the Department of Chemistry is the present incharge Head of  the Department of Microbiology .

Microbiology has generated number of opportunities for the past few years shows interest to pursuing this field as a career . Microbiology students occupy positions like   MICROBIOLOGISTS , QUALITY ASSURANCE AND QUALITY CONTROL OFFICERS in pharma and dairy companies and  different sectors like  FOOD CORPORATION OF INDIA , IRCTC ,  CLINICAL RESEARCH LABORATORIES and in  such as HETERO, REDDY’S , AUROBINDO ,  MSN LABS  , SIMSON LIFE SCIENCES private limited.  INDIAN COUNCIL OF FOREST  RESEARCH AND ORGANIZATIONS , HEALTH ASSISTANTS  .


Vision


Microbiology is  the research oriented applied  Science including effusion of biology and technology. This includes Genetics, Biochemistry, Biochemical techniques,  Industrial Microbiology , Agriculture Microbiology, Food Microbiology ,  Environmental Microbiology , Serology,Virology, Immunology, Genetic engineering , Diagnostic medical microbiology, bio-statistics, Bio-informatics, Marine biology, health and medicine. Microbiology can be applied in  industries to develop new therapeutic drugs, vaccines, diagnostic kits, Biofertilizers, Biopesticides , transgenic plants, transgenic animals, biofuels, Degradation of  xenobiotics.,
